With us at RFH Classics is this stunning 1984 Mercedes 280 SL Auto Convertible finished in Signal Red with Black Leather Trim. The R107 version of the iconic SL range is a truly classic shape and perhaps made most infamous by early 80s TV shows such as Heart to Heart or Dallas. The car has only had 3 previous owners and comes to us from long term family ownership where it was the subject of a good restoration job. Although badged as a 300 SL on the boot, this is a 280 SL which has an engine that was first introduced in 1974 as the alternative to the V8 powered R107 and despite the smaller displacement, it offered ample power and acceleration thanks to its reduced weight under the bonnet. The straight 6 engine under the sleek bonnet fitted fires into life at the turn of the key and when new, came with over 180bhp making it quite a spritely machine., Presented here in possibly one of the best colour combination the car comes complete with very period Mexican Hat Alloy Wheels and a colour coded Hardtop. Prior to the car going for sale we had it with our local Bosch specialist who have been through the car and set up the fuel injection system along with giving it a service and MOT ready for sale. Inside the car you will find the Black trim, which is in excellent condition, is really off set by the Red carpets fitted. The paintwork is in lovely condition with a deep shine and the chrome trim is equally as nice.
